June Dairy Month: A Blogger’s Perspective

Five food and nutrition bloggers. Two dairy farmers. One June Dairy Month.

On World Milk Day, we took our five Team Dairy New England bloggers to Freund’s Farm in East Canaan, CT for a farm tour and culinary experience.

The result? Five stellar blog posts covering top recipes, farm photos, and myth-busting.

Check out the below links to see how our bloggers celebrated June Dairy Month!

“Is Milk Healthy? 8 Milk Myths, Busted” by pediatric dietitian Jill Castle.
“Milk at the grocery store is antibiotic-free. Like people and other animals, cow’s get sick and need to be treated with antibiotics. However, strict government standards and protocols for milk production prohibit milk tainted with antibiotics to go to market.”

“Our Favorite Milk, Cream, Yogurt and Cheese Recipes” by Martha Pesa of A Family Feast.
“I was amazed to learn about everything that goes into raising dairy cows! From now on – any time I drink a glass of milk, eat a slice of cheese, or make some of our favorite milk, cream, yogurt and cheese recipes – I will think of the hard-working, innovative, and passionate dairy farmers I met earlier this month.”

“Creamy Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas” by Michelle Nahom of A Dish of Daily Life.
“Protein is so important to building bone and muscle. Our kids run track, and my husband and I are runners a well. Eating foods that are high in protein after a hard workout helps rebuild the muscles that you’ve broken down.”

“Healthy Greek Yogurt Pasta Salad with Ham and Peas” by Katie Webster of Healthy Seasonal Recipes.
“To commemorate the farm trip and National Dairy Month, I made this creamy Greek Yogurt Pasta Salad with Ham and Peas. And instead of masses of mayo, I used Greek yogurt to make it creamy! Yay!”

“Grilled Summer Fruit Sundaes” by registered dietitian Jenny Shea Rawn of My Cape Cod Kitchen.
“Grilled corn muffin tops topped with a dollop of honey yogurt whipped cream, grilled summer peaches and plums and a generous drizzle of honey. The perfect dessert to celebrate summer – and to celebrate June Dairy Month.”
