What does Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP 60) look like in your backyard?
Since FUTP 60 is a nationwide, student-led healthy eating and physical activity program, we wanted to highlight your local student advocates.
Below, we chatted with New Hampshire’s 2016-17 FUTP 60 State Ambassador Jade.
Overall, what has been your favorite memory from being involved in the FUTP 60 program?
My favorite memory from FUTP 60 was my first time attending the national summit. I met so many new people from all over the country and made friends that I still stay in contact with. I also gained vital leadership skills and experienced many fun events.
Why did you initially want to become a FUTP 60 State Ambassador?
I wanted to become more involved in FUTP 60 and my community, and I wanted to grow my leadership skills.
What types of projects has your school’s FUTP 60 team accomplished?
My FUTP 60 team has been able to purchase water bottle fillers for my middle school, has had multiple pep rallies, created an amazing music video, and won various grants that have greatly improved my school and community.
I have lead presentations in front of my high school, as well as the middle and elementary schools. My favorite leadership experience was directing the filming and singing of my high school music video about our school. It came out great!
As an outgoing state ambassador, how do you plan on remaining involved in the FUTP 60 program?
I am attending the local and national summit this year, and I am continuing to be build and grow my leadership skills.
What is your favorite:
- Way to get active? Play soccer.
- Healthy snack? Vegetables–all of them!
- Hobby? Listening to music while walking my dogs.
- School subject? Biology.
What do you want to be when you’re older?
I want to have a job in the biochemistry field.
